Architecture of Hope - for an Alphabet of Hope

Israel, Germany, Gaza and Córdoba in between.

Eine interdisziplinäre Ausstellung mit Jan Lewandowski und Hearthouse Film

25.06 - 30.06. 2024 in der Barlach Halle K

Vernissage 25. Juni 19 Uhr

In the Golden Age, Jews, Muslims and Christians lived in harmony together in Córdoba. They shared knowledge and supported each other. In believe that everyone contributes a part to society.

Three groups of students from Hamburg, Shaar Ha Negev and Rahat wanted to carry this idea forward into the present - in the form of a joint theater project.

Unfortunately, the day of departure was the 7th of October.

Which is why Only the Hamburg group could travel, while the others faced the onset of war.

Out of the deep feeling of speechlessness and powerlessness

this visual poem was created to convey the history,

spirit and architecture of the city.

This film was created as a reflection on humanity.

As a silent of hope-

for the ruins of the present.

ONE CAMPAIGN - MANY PROJECTS!

We translate processes, feelings and words into complex visual worlds. We are deeply convinced that this is how we reach people's hearts and souls. In this way, we create new approaches and more tolerance towards complex topics. Through exhibitions, theatre performances and events. We carry the power of images into real spaces and thus promote a lively exchange.

REVIVING THE GOLDEN AGE

The Project participants from Israel and Germany come together in Andalusia at the start of the campaign and the artistic “Trialogue of Hope” to work on the so-called “Golden Age”, when Muslims and Jews experience a heyday of culture, art and science in Europe.

Here these results are used as a pillar for a building of hope in order to carry out prevention work with appropriate exhibitions, performances, films and other media in the participants'

respective cities. The “Journey Back to the Future” is an attempt to learn from the past for the current conditions in the cities of origin, as each group has particular contexts and their own narratives about this place; Caliphate, culture, art etc. up to the expulsion and

persecution of the Sephardic Jews from the Iberian Peninsula - into the Arab world and the Ottoman Empire. The aim is to highlight the wealth of Jewish culture and character in Spain

and the Arab world. But also the dark time of the Inquisition and the coming to terms with history up to the persecution under National Socialism and the final escape to the newly founded state of Israel.

The results will be actively presented, exhibited and brought into public discourse in Israel and Germany in 2023-24.
